An Autonomous System Number (ASN) is a unique number assigned to a network in global internet routing. Every provider that participates directly on the internet has its own ASN (e.g. AS15169 for Google).

What are upstreams, peers and prefixes?

Upstreams are transit providers through which an AS reaches the internet. Peers are networks with direct traffic exchange. Prefixes are the IP address ranges the AS announces via BGP.

Where does the ASN data come from?

The data comes from the official RDAP services of the RIRs (RIPE, ARIN, etc.) and from RIPEstat (prefixes and neighbour ASNs).

What is an ASN?
