How is availability checked?

We query the official RDAP (the successor to WHOIS) of the respective registry. If it answers “not found”, the domain is free; if it returns registration data, it is taken. All results are without guarantee – final availability is confirmed by the registrar at checkout.

Which TLDs can be checked?

Most common endings such as .com, .net, .org, .io, .de and many new gTLDs. Some country codes (e.g. .eu, .at) offer no public RDAP – there we show “cannot be checked automatically” and link to the registrar search.

Does the domain check cost anything?

No, the check is free. If you order, you are forwarded to a registrar – their prices apply there.
