A traceroute traces the path your data packets take through the internet to a destination. Each intermediate stop (a router, called a “hop”) is listed with its IP address, the associated network (ASN) and the measured response time. This shows which networks the traffic passes through and where delays occur.
For every hop we provide direct links to our IP Lookup (location, provider, reverse DNS) and to the ASN lookup (autonomous system). Hops that do not respond appear as “*” – this is normal, since many routers do not answer traceroute packets for security reasons. The traceroute runs from our server in Germany and therefore shows the route from the perspective of the German internet.
